Illustration Themes

For my book, I would like to incorporate small simple doodles in amongst the text, similar in the way that a similar theme is carried across in numerous existing books, for example, In Colin West's 'The big book of nonsense'.

Because I love this illustrative style so much, I was think about using just this simple sketchy and simple style for a handful of my illustrations. These illustrations will only be reflected on areas of the book, where there isn't a major plot issue occurring.

This is a example of my own style of creating sketchy illustrations. This scene would interweave between the text like it is flowing, and in terms of the story behind the illustration, placing this image into a certain section of the story where the protagonist falls into a large rose bush, I feel will work well.

I am very excited to see how this style will be incorporated into my book, and I have good feelings about it.

As a side note that I wish to add, this is a route I will also go down in the development of my poem for Colin's book. My selected poem is called, "The Stately Ship".
