Coningsby Gallery

My work for the London exhibition will be held in a small illustrative gallery called the Coningsby gallery. The exhibition will be held this upcoming July.

  • The gallery was established in 1994, The Coningsby Gallery featured an assortment of different art
  • Features exhibitions, featuring contemporary illustration, as well as graphic art.
  • The gallery supports upcoming illustrators, for example, by providing a platform for our own CCAD class, to display work.
  • The gallery is run by Andrew Coningsby, hence the name.
  • Although the space inside is small, it is a widely known gallery in Eastern London.

Page Numbers

In the terms of my book, I strongly believe that numbers to mark each page aren't necessary.

I feel this way mainly because of the following reasons:

  • The book is aimed at young children, some of those reading, (or the book being read to by parents etc) may not be able to count well, and thus will not even make practical use of the numbers on the page.
  • Secondly because the book follows a directed story. I feel numbers belong more in the realms of reference, and educational books.
  • Thirdly, it may be distracting from the illustration/body text.
  • And finally, because the book is very short, I believe numbers just aren't necessary. Perhaps for a longer book maybe, but not for my book which is only several pages long.

Update

Now that the 15th may deadline is approaching, all I need to do now is add 'bleeds' to my images, and print/submit digitally. Also, the final work on my entry based around the Colin West poem needs to be completed. After this, the module is done.

I have a book, that was written and illustrated by the artist. I personally enjoy his work, as I love his use of colours with the screenprint technique, as well has his narrative skills. The book I am talking about in particular, is one called 'The New Ghost'.

This book is a 17x23cm series book, which is exactly the same dimensions as my book, called 'A Short Tail".
In my opinion he is a very highly talented artist, and I will be looking out for any new work published by him.

I have also bought a limited edition print from Nobrow, that is based on Rob's work. I will post an example of the piece below in a photo.

Their registered office can be found at, 80 Strand, London WC2R 0RL. Ladybird books have offered an inspiration for Sam Arthur, who said this on the campus visit. He said he adored the way Ladybird could mass produce pocket sized books, that were cheap to make, for both consumer and company, in a pre-internet based world.
